SUMMARY:Hamlet Dies at the End - Tickets on sale NOW!!!
DESCRIPTION:Hamlet Dies at the End\nA comedy by Gavin McGibbon: Playhouse\n1st to 8th November 2019 \nHamlet Dies at the End \nFrom award-winning New Zealand playwright\, Gavin McGibbon\, (‘Holding On’ and ‘Under The Hood’) comes a heart-warming comedy of classic Kiwi characters in a play about a play. \nOf course Hamlet dies at the end\, I hear you say\, but wait – before he does there’s a whole lot of shenanigans with a ragtag bunch of misfits trying to come to terms with life\, each other… oh and Shakespeare’s great tragedy\, Hamlet. \nPerhaps Hamlet Dies at the End would be tragic if it weren’t so comical. It deals with death but nobody dies (completely)\, it gets to grips with some “full-on sh*t” and it ends by affirming life in all its puzzling glory. From 91-year-old Charlie\, whose wife has just left him\, to young Jimmy\, who set fire to his cat\, the characters bring Hamlet to life in ways you never thought possible.

The show must go on. \n\n“Easy Money” \nBy Roger Hall\nDirected by Alice Sollis \nOn Stage Playhouse from 21st to 29th August 2020 \n“Easy Money” is a clever satire about greed\, adapted from Ben Jonson’s 17th century play “The Alchemist”. The story follows two con artists\, Trudi and Stephen\, as they connive to fool their prestigious Auckland neighbours into buying shares in the Auckland Harbour Bridge. If there’s money to be made in a scam\, they know how to do it.\nWith double-crosses\, dirty tricks\, and twists and turns this is Roger Hall at his best.\nRoger Hall said that he saw “The Alchemist” in London and it was “…gut achingly funny. A merchant flees the town to avoid the Plague\, leaving his house in charge of his servant who uses it as a base to defraud as many people as possible.\nBring it up to date. An upfront Auckland Harbour luxury apartment let out via Airbnb to a couple from Australia for a four-week stay… It doesn’t take them long to find others in the apartment block ripe for plucking. And away we go.”

SUMMARY:Tom\, Dick & Harry
DESCRIPTION:Tom and his wife are about to adopt a baby — it’s the happiest day of their lives… or at least it would have been if Tom’s well-meaning brothers\, Dick and Harry\, hadn’t decided to “help.” \nTheir efforts quickly spiral out of control\, resulting in two illegal immigrants\, a van full of contraband cigarettes\, and one very inconvenient dead body! \nWith the arrival of the Supervisor from the Adoption Agency and the local Police Constable\, Tom’s quick thinking is pushed to the limit. But surely things can’t get any worse… can they? \nOh yes\, they can! \nDick and Harry’s ever-helpful plans go from bad to utterly disastrous\, adding a Russian Mafia mobster and a reality TV crew into the mix. Then it really starts to get complicated! \nWe’re thrilled to present this Amateur Community Theatre Production\, by special arrangement with Samuel French Ltd and Play Bureau Ltd.

SUMMARY:Come From Away
DESCRIPTION:Set to a pulsating music blend of Irish folk/rock\, COME FROM AWAY is based on the true story of the time when the isolated community of Gander\, Newfoundland\, played host to the world. What started as an average day in a small town turned into an international sleepover\, when 38 planes\, carrying thousands of people from around the globe\, were diverted to Gander’s airstrip on September 11\, 2001. \nUndaunted by culture clashes and language barriers\, the people of Gander cheered the stranded travellers with music\, an open bar and the recognition that we’re all part of a global family.
