As we all face the difficult challenge of responding to COVID-19, the South Canterbury Drama League advises the postponement of “Radio Plays”, the workshop and auditions for “Piraticus Rex”, and the SCDL AGM.

We fully intend to reschedule all of these once out of lockdown but with the uncertainty around how long lockdown will be, we are unable to commit to any new dates at the moment. Thank you for your patience while we wait for advise from the MOH. Our Board will be working with sections, casts and our production teams and crews, to make the best decisions for all involved moving forward.

“MusicVille” our upcoming Junior show, have cast currently running some rehearsals on line which is definitely keeping up morale. At this stage, there is no indication that we will reschedule this show which is on stage from the 30 Sept-3rd Oct and 6th-9th Oct.

Our TheatreFest group were due in Queenstown for the semi final of TheatreFest but this is now postponed till the 5th Sept.

We were humbled by the support we received after last year’s lockdown with most of our shows “selling out” as soon as tickets went on sale and we thank you, the local theatre lovers, for your ongoing support of live theatre.

We look forward to hosting you at the Playhouse again soon.
