Stagecraft Workshops

An event every week that begins at 10:00am on Sunday and Saturday, repeating until October 18, 2020

The South Canterbury Drama League is delighted to announce two stunning weekend workshops of theatre skills led by practitioners at the top of their game.
Workshop 1 10th & 11th October
Stage Combat/Physical Expression – Weekend
When: Saturday October 10th & Sunday October 11th
Time: 10-4pm both days
Cost: $100 non member and $90 member
Danny Lee Syme –
- Specialises in mime, clown, dance, adagio, aerial arts, floor acrobatics/tumbling, slapstick and stage combat. His style is innovative, creative, adoptive, energetic and endearing.
- Master of Professional Practice, Performing Arts
Workshop contents will include:
Stage Combat fundamentals, Combat Postures, Hand to hand stage combat choreography, Sword and stick fight fundamentals, Baton/stick choreography, Duel and group routines, Physical Theatre and Character integration, but wait, there’s more!
Workshop 2 17th & 18th October
Acting & Directing – Weekend
When: Saturday October 10th & Sunday October 11th
Time: 10-4pm both days
Cost: $100 non member and $90 member
Bryan Aitken –
- Former Associate Artistic Director & original company member of The Court Theatre.
- Worked as an actor or director for most of NZ”s major theatre companies
- One of the country’s top Drama Adjudicators
- Artisic Director of The Arts Employment Scheme & The RoadShow Trust
- Guest Lecturer & Tutor at WAAPA & NASDA
- Currently president Theatre New Zealand
Workshop contents will include:
Inner Action/outer Action, Needs & objectives, sustaining pause, play against, Defining Genre & Style, Refining your ‘Theatre Vocabulary’, Creative Collaboration, plus much more!
Rarely has there been a package of this stature put together by SCDL.
